The committee is responsible for...
- Arbitrating disputes between members.
- For reviewiing Society handicaps following any recommendations from the Treasurer.
- Responsible for setting Society Rules of play.
- Responsible for setting the year’s itinerary and booking venues.
- Responsible for setting the yearly Budget, Membership fees and charges.
- Responsible for committing Society funds, managing and reporting Society finances.
- Responsible for setting competition formats.
Chairman & Vice-Chairman
- Point of contact for all members, venues and associated partners.
- Responsible for website, social media and all communications.
- Ruling decision makers when making society commitments based on committee consultations.
- Responsible for booking venues and collecting money from members as well as purchasing prizes.
- Responsible for presentation of the day and opening and closing society events.
- Responsible for establishing the groupings and/or pairings for each event.
- Responsible for setting, in conjunction with the committee, all budgets.
- Responsible for obtaining all quotations necessary for setting the Society budget.
- Responsible for authorising all expenditure.
- Responsible for administering the society accounts and for presenting the accounts to the AGM.
- Chairs of the AGM.
Treasurer
- Supports the Chairman and Vice-Chairman and is lead point of contact for all society decisions.
- Responsible for the distribution and collection of score cards at each event.
- On behalf of the committee shall administer the Handicap system
as agreed by the members at the AGM.
- Shall set a members initial handicap on joining based on either an official Club handicap or evidence of standard of play, where the member is not a member of a Golf Club.
- Shall adjust the member’s handicaps following each event and provide a full list to the Web administrator for posting on the Society Website.
- Where the handicap administrator considers that a player’s Handicap does not reflect his current playing ability he can under “
General Play ” propose a manual adjustment of a player’s handicap
to the committee.
- The handicap administrator should recommend handicap adjustments under general play under the following circumstances:
1. Exceptionally, where a player is trying to achieve a handicap higher than his ability justifies,
2. Where a player returns poor scores in Society Competitions, but has been successful in Club competitions or evidence of consistent high scoring in friendly matches exists.
3. A player whose standard is clearly improving and who has returned two or more scores well below his handicap in a short period of time,
4. A player who, because of health or advancing age, is quite unable to play to his current handicap and does not compete in enough competitions for his handicap to be adjusted accordingly.
- Responsible in the first instance for resolving any disputes regarding handicaps. Where a resolution to the dispute cannot be found the handicap secretary shall refer the matter to the Committee
Secretary
- Provides support to the committee and makes informed decisions for consultation.
- Contacts members on behalf of the committee to address issues and advertise events.
- Contacts third parties on behalf of the society to build associations and affiliations.
- Provides feedback and assiatnce to the committee on all society matters and has an large input in the general running of the society and its members.
- Responsible for requesting due funds from members for events or trips and making deadlines clear to members.
President
- Provides experience and guidance on all society matters.
- Point of contact regarding rules and regulations.
- Provides support to the Chairman and Vice Chairman and where applicable provides advice and assistance with all society matters.
- Key decision maker on all society decisions put before the committee.
Captain
- All of the above points as per the President plus,
- Responsible for choosing the longest drive and nearest the pin holes for each event.
- Responsible for establishing the groupings and/or pairings for each event.
