the belfry - end of season finale
After another bottom of the pile finish on The Derby Course at The Belfry there was only going to be one winner of The Golden Turd for the most appearances on this wall throughout the 2013 season.
He's taken it all in his stride and has been good enough to smile and take all the banter on the chin. Fair play and good luck in 2014. 2013 Loser of the Year Marc Lloyd |
frodsham golf club - sunday 20th october 2013
This weeks winner of the t-shirt is indeed "the winner" as he gets the unenviable honour of being able to retain the shirt having won it 3 times in this 2013 season. The round was never going to recover from 6 consecutive blobs on holes 1-6. However, despite all the emotions and confidence sapping mishit shots, he still managed to keep a smile on his face and had a good laugh. In fact, from the 7th onwards he played much much better with some superb putts and walked off saying he had actually enjoyed the day. However, the wall is cruel and it has made good friends over the course of this season with...

The wall of shame does not care how consistent you usually are, or how straight you normall strike the ball. If it wants you to make an appearance then it grabs you by the arms and causes your swing to look like an octopus falling from a tree. In this instance, it decided that the victim shall spend most of his day like an osterich....in the sand.
However, looking at the photograph below, you would think that he had won the 1st prize.....

The wall of shame can be a cruel temptress and Bunkers favourite quote provider has now found his smiling little grid on here for the 3rd time this season. However, in this instance he can legitimately point equal blame [and he will do] at his partner in crime.
The pairing were on hiding to nothing having declared their defeat even before a ball was struck. I do believe it is an approach many players are now loking at in the PGA. The full review of their day can be found HERE

the mere - sunday 8th september 2013
For all of you who follow Bunkers on Twitter [CLICK HERE TO FOLLOW] you will be aware of one member who is usually at in the middle of all the banter. As a consequence, this is probably the most anticipated loser since Keith Malone slipped the shirt on - and I'm sure there will be some frantic banter as a result.
A day that started poorly and got worse resulting in less points than a circle. It gives me great pleasure to announce the loser at The Mere....

There is probably one player who has made bigger strides than most this season. A consistency off the tee and straight drives and approach shots have been a feature of his game throughout the year. However, all these features were off colour today and he found himself in some tricky positions with long approaches to the greens.
Fair play to him though, he took it all in good spirits and Im sure he will bounce back at Formby Hall.

Some may argue that its a bit harsh that this events loser has taken his spot on the wall of shame.....well, I don't think anyone but the player himself will argue to be honest!! But having finished 2nd bottom on 21 points, Marc Lloyd finds himself on the wall for the second time this season as the lowest scoring Bunkers member. This time round the R11 didn't take the brunt of Lloydys wrath, it was the red shirt he had chosen to wear - which had been his choice of colour on his previous appearance at the bottom of the leaderboard. Another golf item of Lloydy's for the bin!!

Its with a slight taste of sorrow that we have to introduce this weeks loser. Having only taken up the game of golf in April 2013, and played 3/4 rounds of golf in his life. It seems harsh to expect a good performance on a tricky course thats long in length for even the most experienced of players. However, we in Bunkers pride ourselves on fairness to all members and with that we all join in unison to mock this events loser and wall of shame debutante...

Shrigley Hall - Sunday 16th June 2013
There had been one Bunkers member who had laughed harder than most when the previous losers found themselves on the dreaded Wall of Shame - particularly in light of an early season victory. This day, the golfing Gods decided that person should be punished for his laughter [and who are we to argue with the powers that be?]
Dave Ashley summed it up best when the wooden spoon was handed over:

"I don't think I've ever played with someone who's shot 18 points!"

Houghwood - Sunday 2nd June 2013
After a reasonable enough start, Roper posted 5 back-to-back ZEROS at the end of the front nine and start of the back nine and 8 overall. From that, its easy to see how he finished bottom of the pile AGAIN!!! The unenviable record of being the first Bunkers member to feature twice on the wall of shame. The image of the day was watching Roper walk away from the greens shaking his head in disbelief. Anyone wanna buy a set of Taylormade irons with untouched sweet spots?

Leigh - Sunday 26th May 2013
The 1st tee banter got to Lloydy and the nervous 60 yard topped drive set the tone for the day. Nailing a case of Corona's the night before didn't do any favours either as he set about posting 14 stableford points to find himself rock bottom of the leaderboard. The post round bevvy produced some cracking excuses, the best of which was "Gonna have to get shut of that R11s". Chin up Lloydy lad....

Didsbury - Sunday 12th May 2013
After jointly setting up Bunkers and creating the "Wall of Shame" it is with an overwhelming scent of irony that Didsburys winner of the wooden spoon is Andy Roper. Having scored some decent results recently, Roper found himself swinging his clubs like he was swatting flies. Marty McFly and the DeLorean couldn't be see in South Manchester, but Ropers performance suggested we had travelled back in time to the date when he first picked up a golf club. The only way can be up....

The Oaks at Mollington - Sunday 21st April 2013.
After a month swanning around in Australia, young Phillip found the conditions were not to his liking and he started as he meant to go on with a dribbler in to the unforgiving rough on the 1st. A snorkel and mask would probably have made a better gift than a wooden spoon the way the round panned out. Good luck next time to
