One place a player never wants to find themselves is on the Bunkers Golf Society Wall of Shame.
From the desperate to the dire - these lads have found themselves at the rock bottom of the days play.

worsley park - sunday 13th april 2014
The opening event of the season.....the excitement was palpable, the banter was flowing and everyone was keen to start the season on a high. For our opening victim of the wall of shame, that was where the good stuff ended and the nightmare began.
The writing was on the wall [in pencil] when it took 3 shots to get past the womens tee on the 1st and the confidence drained out of him.
At least he had the good grace to smile and laugh about it - god knows he needed to!!!

A scorecard that has been rated “18” and comes with a health warning. On the plus side, the lack of writing required on it has kept the pencil nice and sharp so it’s not a struggle to read that our opening LOSER of 2014 with a stableford score of 3 is...

There are occassions in life when a new Bunkers member just has to smile and accept the flowing wave of banter and micky taking that comes their way. This event, saw Brendan pull a seat in that uncomfortable circle and receive his much deserved 'roasting' and to be fair, he took it as it was intended [as you can see from his jolly happy face above]
A front nine that is a clear crime against golf was rescued somewhat by a much stronger finish when his 'balls to it' attitude saw him reach for the big stick to great success. This events loser is:
Brendan Smith

If you are of nervous or weak disposition - LOOK AWAY NOW!
With a scorecard that looked like a game of 'noughts and crosses' until the 12th hole, it was always destined to find this events loser rock bottom of the list. However, to be fair, he doubled his score from Worsley Park in the final 7 holes at Heswall. With a slice that Mr Kipling would be proud of, Heswalls loser is, and for the 2nd time this season:

FORMBY HALL - SUNDAY 8TH JUNE 2014
A front 9 score of 16 would not suggest that this events loser would find himself on The Wall of Shame and it may surprise some to see him perched happily in the position at all. But any player who posts 3 points for 9 holes of golf undoubtedly deserves their place upon this ruthless wall. His card on the back 9 looked like a painters radio - it had that many blobs on it!!! The loser at Formby Hall in The High Tee Open with 19 points is:

"If I could give you one tip, it would be....keep it on the fairways!".....those words of a member as we walked out onto the 1st tee rang true. However, I think John was busy skipping and dancing [as he does] and he missed it. His golf certainly suggested so, either that or he was playing with an arm handcuffed to an ankle. carden park - sunday 13th july 2014
10am on the day of play and texts and tweets were sent with the pre-emptive excuses. "I'm rough here" and "The shirts mine today" were just snippets of the tone. However, this doesn't wash with Bunkers....a vast majority of our members arrived at Carden with hangovers and in fact, some of our best winners have done so whilst feeling dog rough! So, we all don't care what you say - this shirt is RIGHTFULLY YOURS and absolutely get hold of it!!!

When the pairings were drawn for the betterball event there was a common thought that a high and a low handicapper paired together could be a deadly combination. That was even more dangerous if the high handicapper was steady and the low handicapper was long off the tee. Therefore, when this weeks losers were drawn out, there was a feeling that they could be right in contention at Didsbury. As it happened, they played like a pair of drunken sailors on shore leave.
The winners of the joint loser shirts are:
Rob Botterill & Paul Davies Jnr

portal golf resort - sunday 17th august 2014
As all 28 players walked towards the first tee at Portal, the wind started to bounce down and the wind was immediately noted as a real factor in the days play. With steady wind of 20mph and gusts of upto 40mph it was always going to impact on scoring. That coupled with the fact that it has some very long holes, and that this weeks loser had never played the course and it was a tough days golf for the eventual winner of the wooden spoon. Coming off the back of his brothers loss at the event before, this weeks loser is brother of Rob, and guest for the day:

"I shouldn't have gone out last night"....those opening lines were to set the tone for this weeks loser. He hit every type of shot during his round, snap-hooks, slices, tops, fats, thins - the lot!. After a season of relative consistency he had adopted the name "Mr Steady" amongst the lads, yet at Lee Park that became "Mr [Un]Steady as he battled with his alcohol demons around a course that mustve felt like Augusta National on the day. There are times in life that when they come along you have to seize them with both hands....this is one of those occassions. Having listened to his Churchillian speech over the last few months about how "stroke play is the truest test of golf" it was ironic when that same format of the game decided it was time to bite one of its biggest supporters on the arse! The salmon pink losers shirt was designed for this very reason and watching this weeks loser strut around Childwall Golf Club in 2 weeks time is going to be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! childwall golf club - sunday 5th october 2014
Bunkers losers shirts are like buses....you get two come along back to back. This weeks loser took the wooden spoon from his Son's defeat at our last event. In what must be one of the most welcomed shocks of the season, this weeks loser found himself red faced in front of the list of Childwall captains who would have shared in his embarrassment. To be fair, it was with a score that would probably ensure safety at most events - but for whatever reason, this week brought out the best in the lads. Maybe it was the golfing Gods just dealing us another magical moment. It was one of the loudest cheers of the season, a saw more photographs taken than any point in the season as the woooden spoon was right royally handed to our Captain....
